Blessings of Luke 17:15 He Realized He Was Healed

Blessings from God

Luke 17:15
One of them, when he realized that he was healed, turned around and came back, shouting his gratitude, glorifying God. (MSG)

When I was growing up my mother would sing songs to me like, “Count your blessings name them one by one, count your many blessings see what God has done,” She would remind me to count my blessings, especially if I was having a bad day. I still remember to do what my mom taught me and I think back on all the wonderful blessings the Lord has blessed me with.

I know all these blessings came from God. The Bible tells us that everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him. We should know that as we live and move and have our being God is our source of all blessings. He was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment. (Colossians 1:16 MSG)

Some thank God for Their Blessings

There are Christian people who just naturally seem to have a cheerful attitude. You will hear them being always grateful and praising God saying things like “God is good all the time”. They have learned that God is the source for all their blessings.

It is a good thing to practice being polite and thankful. There was a time most children were taught to say yes sir and no sir and yes mam and no mam. I don’t hear too many children practicing this or being taught this type of polite respect that was taught just a short time back. This causes these children to miss out on having a thankful heart and the extra blessings they could have.

When Jesus came by the ten lepers, they kept their distance and cried out to Him for mercy and healing. Jesus told them to go show themselves to the Priest and as they went He healed them. One of them turned back and came to Jesus, thanking Jesus with his grateful heart and with a loud voice. Jesus asked this thankful person: “where were the other nine who were healed?” Then Jesus gave him an extra blessing. He told him because of his thankfulness he was made whole. (Luke 17:19) He was not only healed like the other nine, he received all his missing parts back that the leprosy had taken from him.

Extra Blessings from God

When you practice having a thankful heart you will find that people enjoy being around you. God made us to enjoy life and see good days. If you feel that you have been lacking in the area of thankfulness, ask God to help you to change. He says He has made you a new creation and old things are passed away and the new things are yours to have in a new way. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Beloved, know that when Jesus came into your heart the old way of doing things ended and you have been moved from darkness into His marvelous light. Let His light shine in your hearts in thankfulness, counting your blessings and naming them one by one. In the thankfulness of your heart God will also make you whole in Him the same as He did the leper who came to Him with a thankful heart.
