Psalm 91 Promise Of Safety Under His Wings

Psalm 91 Protection

Psalm 91:4
He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge…

This is a good example of the Psalm 91 protection God wants you to have.

The forest fire had been brought under control, and the group of firefighters were working back through the devastation making sure all the hot spots had been extinguished. As they marched across the blackened landscape between the wisps of smoke still rising from the smoldering remains, a large lump on the trail caught a firefighter’s eye. As he got closer he noticed it was the charred remains of a large bird, that had burned nearly half way through. Since birds can so easily fly away from the approaching flames, the firefighter wondered what must have been wrong with this bird that it could not escape. Had it been sick or injured? Arriving at the carcass, he decided to kick it off the trail with his boot. As soon as he did, however, he was startled half to death by a flurry of activity around his feet. Four little birds flailed in the dust and ash then scurried away down the hillside. (an excerpt from http://www.lifestream.org/bodylife.php?blid=23)

In the Bible, wings speak of protection. David said to God, “Hide me under the shadow of Your wings.” (Psalm 17:8) Jesus Himself offered protection to the Jewish nation when He said, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!” (Luke 13:34) They were not willing that He gather them under the protection of His Wings and Jesus wept over Jerusalem. He literally shed tears because He saw the destruction that would come upon His people. He saw the Roman siege of Jerusalem in AD70, when the Romans burnt the city and holy temple, slaughtered many, took some captive and sold others as slaves. (Luke 19:41-44)

Psalm 91 To Dwell in The Secret Place

Have you had thoughts come to you making you wonder if God is protecting you? Your thoughts may include you not feeling worthy or maybe you think God weeps over you like He did Jerusalem because He thinks you are not willing? Did you know that as a Christian you qualify for continually dwelling in the secret place of the most High every day and every night 24/7/365? Jesus is your qualification. Since He is sinless and qualifies for all the blessings of God then you are in Him and you automatically qualify for all the blessings of God. This is a different situation that the children of Israel had when Jesus wept over them. According to the Law they had to qualify their-selves to dwell in the secret place of the most high and receive the protection and refuge of His wings. For us, because we have not rejected Jesus, but have received Him as our Savior, we qualify thru Jesus to have God’s protection, especially in these times of deadly pestilences, natural catastrophes and terrorist attacks.

There is absolutely NO WAY that Jesus Himself won’t qualify for Psalm 91 blessings, so if you are in Him there is absolutely NO WAY that you won’t qualify for Psalm 91 blessings!

Jesus Gave His Life for Your Psalm 91 Refuge Under God’s Wings

Like the mother hen who spread her wings and died protecting her chicks, Jesus spread His wings of love and died on the cross for us. And after He had died to save us, He rose again and lives today to make sure that we are well taken care of. Beloved, see yourself under refuge of the wings of God receiving all the Psalm 91 blessings because of your Savior. God has promised you Psalm 91. “He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge.” You are qualified by faith in Jesus, for it is written, for by grace are you saved thru faith. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
