Knowing The Truth
John 8:32
32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
The truth in itself will not set you free but knowing the truth can. I would guess that more than 99% of the people in the world are not set free by the truth. Jesus said you shall know the truth and then the truth shall set you free. So the truth alone will do nothing if you don’t know what the truth is. If the truth alone would set people free, then people all over the world would experience saving grace through the truth of Gods Word without having to know anything about this truth.
For example; one of the truths God’s Word teaches is how Jesus qualified us to be made well from sickness and disease. If this truth alone would cause people to be made well through the evidence of Jesus’ salvation, without them having to know anything about it, then people all over the world would be well without having to know the sequence of what caused the healing. The Scriptures make it clear throughout the Bible that you must know the truth to be set free. Through gaining the knowledge of the truth is where the breakthrough comes. But how can they call on Jesus to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them? (Romans 10:14) So truth alone will not set anyone free without the knowledge of these truths.
There are several scripture that tell us we should learn the truth that can set us free:
- Hosea 4:6 – My people perish from a lack of knowledge.
- John 14:6 I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
- Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; 22 For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.
- 1 Timothy 3:15 …the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
- Ephesians 1:13 13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation…
The Truth About Speaking Words
The speaking of negative words has an effect on the desired outcome of everything in life, but most people do not have knowledge of the truth of how their words can make a difference in what they desire to happen. Knowing the truth that words spoken can set on fire the course of nature can mean the difference in success and failure. Jesus focused on the saying as being three times more important than the believing when teaching about moving a mountain in Mark 11:23; 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever SAYS to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but BELIEVES that those things he SAYS will be done, he will have whatever he SAYS. I don’t think anyone would have need to move a mountain and the intention of Jesus was to help us focus on problems in our life that seem immovable. The knowledge gained by the truth of this teaching shows us how important our spoken words are. We must learn to bridle our tongue and not just speak anything that comes to our minds. We need to gain the knowledge of Gods truths and speak these truths instead of speaking the evidence of reality in problem situations of life.
Beloved, If you want to see insurmountable problems solved with God’s Word, then you must know the truth of God’s word to change these problem stories into miracles of success. The beginning of the truth is knowledge. To receive the rewards of freedom of this knowledge the first step is to know how to become the righteousness of God in Christ. When you learn this righteousness is given as a gift and learn how God spared not His own son to give it to us, then you will know the truth that will cause you to believe that if God did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he also with him graciously give us all things?
