Saved by grace to righteousness or to sin? I have heard many people use the expression: “I am just an old sinner saved by grace.” But are we still “just a sinner” after we are saved by grace?
2 Corinthians 5:21
For he has made him, who knew no sin, to be sin for us; that we (Who knew no Righteousness) might be made the righteousness of God in him.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
When we were saved by grace, we were made righteous and Jesus was made sin. There was a great alteration in us, we were sinners and at the cross of Jesus we were made righteous by His righteousness. There was also a great alteration at the cross in Jesus, He never sinned but He was Made Sin with our sins. The great exchange takes place when we accept Jesus, and because of the cross we are no longer “just an old sinner saved by grace”; we come to God a sinner but are changed and become the righteousness of God in Christ. No longer to carry the burdens of any of our sins; past, present or future. In Gods eyes we are a new creation in Christ. We are viewed as righteous in Gods eyes even if we continue to sin. Why would God view a Christian as righteous when they are in the middle of an act of sin?
Made the Righteousness of God, Saved by Grace
Romans 10:10
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
When we are saved by grace and made the righteousness of God, it is not by our correct actions past, present or future; it is a free gift and not by our works. (Ephesians 2:8-9) We receive it by claiming in our heart that we believe God sent Jesus to save us, it is simple and all that is required to be saved. (Romans 10:10)
When you begin this Christian walk by believing, (this is first part of Romans 10:10), God carry’s you like a little baby just born. He wants you to experience all the wonders of His love, easy and without effort like a baby, as He creates a path for you to follow. But, after you begin to “become of age” growing up out of the baby Christian state, you will notice God wants you to speak His truths and receive His blessings by your words. (The second part of Romans 10:10)
We speak His word and claim we are a new creation that He MADE sinless in His eyes, even though we may commit sin. By our words of faith we are saved by grace, made sinless and receive all of the blessings that He promised to Abraham. (Genesis 12:3, Galatians 3:8) Why did God give such wonderful gifts of blessings and Righteousness to us and allow His Son to have our horrible sins in exchange?
Saved By Grace to Receive
2 Corinthians 8:9
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.
Gods Grace causes us to start receiving blessings the moment we are saved by grace, and God wants us to continue receiving blessings by His grace as we walk by faith in the gift of righteousness.
(Romans 6:16) “Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey–whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to slaves to obedience, which leads to righteousness?”
God sees every person in the world as slaves to the sin that Adam brought upon them, except Christians. God sees the Christian as slaves to righteousness, like he MADE them through Jesus. (Romans 5:1-11, 2 Corinthians 5:21) We have choices: we can speak blessings into our lives by becoming a slave to obediently agreeing with God that we are made righteous or we can be a slave to the curse by agreeing with the obsolete curse that we were made sinners, even though God will still see us righteous. We know our righteousness was gifted to us, so obedience to righteousness is to speak we received our righteousness as a gift.” Our best choice is to obediently offer ourselves to the free gift of righteousness, receive it, speak it and enjoy its benefits as we lose the curses attached to speaking we are slaves of sin, which no longer has power over us to bring us into its corruption. We now are empowered to live in the blessings since we are made righteous as sons of God and joint heirs with Jesus.
Beloved, speak of your/His Righteousness because you are saved by grace and made Righteous by Him! (Romans 6:14)
