Luke 5:4 Launch Out Into The Deep Blessings

How Far to Receive Blessings?

Luke 5:4
4When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”

The Lord speaks in a still small voice, beckoning us to trust Him and receive the greater blessings He has for us. When he told the disciples to launch out into the deep, they were tired and discouraged, they said they had worked all night and had caught nothing. They also had just cleaned their nets, and had them put away. Jesus told Simon to launch out into the deep at the worst possible time. He also told him to take all the nets they had just finished cleaning and let them down.

It is not always a perfect time when the voice of the Lord speaks to us and shows us to try again. It is when we have sometimes toiled for a long time on a project and nothing seems to work. Then we get that special thought that makes the difference, or we have that little extra drive to finish up or move forward. That is when we receive the greater blessings from the Lord.

Blessings Humbling Our Heart

When Simon launched out into the deep, and let down his nets, there were so many fish that came into the nets that it was beginning to break the nets. They had to signal the other boats to come out and help them. The blessings became so overwhelming their boats began to sink. Simon Peter was so humbled that he came back to the shore and fell down at the feet of Jesus. The is an example of how God wants to bless us, more than we can think, hope or ask and to a point of humbling our hearts with joy. (Ephesians 3:20) The deep is that extra place the Lord wants you to go in trusting Him. Peter knew up until that point he had wavered in his trust of the Lord, when it came to launching out into the deep.

God wants us to break out of our comfort zone. Many of the promises in the Bible go beyond our human reasoning and require us to step out of our comfort zone. God is a dream fulfilled and is able to do super-abundantly, far over and above all that we dare ask or think … infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes or dreams. Even after you seem to have had no success, and want to put away your nets, sometimes that still small voice of the Lord will urge you on and then the breakthrough comes. The blessings will overtake you and humble your heart in thankfulness to the Lord for what He does for you.

Blessings More Than You Need

When Jesus paid the sin debt for us, it was the foundation needed for God to release all His special blessings to us. When we find out about the good news, some have mistakenly only told that the “Good News” is our sins are forgiven and we won’t go to hell. There is much more to the good news than that. We also are no longer under the curses these sins caused. This frees us from the only thing that was in our way for receiving health, prosperity, protection and more! Jesus joyfully went to the cross for our sakes knowing this would set us free. (Hebrews 12:2)

In the garden of Gethsemane, as Jesus prayed, he sweated great drops of blood. He was so overwhelmed with our sorrows that He was afraid that he might not make it to the cross. He asked God to take the cup of sorrows from Him, least he die in the garden of Gethsemane and not make it to the cross.  Jesus knew that all things would be completed for our sake’s at the cross, and He didn’t want anything to stop that… just for us! (Mark 14:32-42, Luke 22:39-46, Matthew 26:36-46)

Beloved, Jesus has taken the first and greatest step by removing your sins, by taking the punishment for those sins. He took our sin though He deserved no punishment, (He had no sin), and we take his sinless-ness (though we have sin and deserve punishment). What an amazing exchange God’s grace has done for us, giving us this gift of righteousness, removing our burdens.  With this wonderful foundation or righteousness under us, being sin free, we qualify for everything that God wants to do for us and thru us. God wants to bless you beyond your wildest dreams, you too will be astonished at your catch, when you step out of your comfort zone and launch out into the deep with the Lord!
