Why did Jesus say God and not Father?
Matthew 27:46
46And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
When Jesus was on the cross, towards the end He addressed His Father as God instead of Father for the first time. With God’s plan in motion for Jesus to take the punishment for all of our sins He had to lose the Father and Son relationship. Jesus had to become equal to common man in His relationship to God so that He could pay the “sin penalty of death” for man. The Father and Son relationship with God qualifies the children for blessings not curses. As children of God we now have eternal life.
As Children We Now Call God Father
When Jesus took all of our sins upon Himself He was doing an exchange of His righteousness for our sins. Not only did we exchange our sins for His righteousness but when Jesus gave up the Father and Son relationship with His father, He exchanged that relationship with us too. We now have the Father and Son relationship and no longer qualify for the curses that are in the world today. (Romans 5:17)
When God turned His back on His Son, at the time Jesus needed Him the most, God could not look upon Jesus as He took all of our sins upon Himself. We have exchanged this moment when God had to turn His back on Jesus for our sakes so that He will never do that to us. God will never turn His back on you since all the sins; (past, present and future) have been completely paid for. (John 3:16)
For the first time when Jesus was taking the beating at the whipping post, and then hung on the cross to die, He gave up His divine protection. This was done for our sakes as we trust in the divine Father and Son relationship we have been given, we can now have the divine protection active in our lives. (Psalm 91)
Everything bad Jesus took upon Himself so that everything good we could have in this amazing exchange in this world today!
Only Blessings Are Yours from God
God has prepared a table in the presence of your enemies. (Psalm 23:5) Today the great exchange is available for you to have in real time in your life on this earth. Your enemy sickness has been defeated and God has exchanged the Wholeness of Jesus for your disease. (Matthew 8:17) Your enemy danger has been defeated and God has exchanged the divine protection of Jesus for your safety. (Psalm 91) Your enemy sin has been destroyed and God has exchanged your sin for the righteousness of His Son and gifted you with His righteousness. God has prepared for you a table of blessings in the presence of your enemies of sins and curses and you may walk in His blessings without His anger or condemnation. For there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the things that were of the Law (flesh) but who walk after the new things of the (Spirit) New Covenant of Grace. (Romans 8:1) Beloved, it is time to live life expecting to not see the judgment, but the goodness and blessings of God, which exchange took place on Easter when Jesus rose! These are the things to know and believe…to receive!
