We take it for granted that the earth is rotating on its axis and that the moon is caught up in the gravitational pull of the earth rotating in its proper spot adjusting the tides. We don’t think about this we just know it is there and working properly in motion and we are comfortable and don’t feel a thing. God set these in motion in the beginning and they just work without needing adjustment. God’s Word was also set in motion when God sent his word to heal us and deliver us from our destruction (Psalm 107:20). People think that God is constantly making adjustments and fixing the problems on Earth as time passes. But the bible does not say that God is sending his word; it says He sent His word and there is a big difference. He sent His word and put it in motion to accomplish that which He pleased and it shall prosper in the thing which He sent it to do. Just like the earth is rotating in motion on its axis God’s word is alive in motion and working.
For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not there, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
When the earth rotates it never ventures too close to the Sun to burn up or too far away to freeze. God’s word does the same as it goes about prospering in the tasks that God sent His word to accomplish. God does not have to interfere and make the earth rotate and neither does He interfere to make His word work. It is up to the ones who were given the word of God to administer it by speaking it and then God’s word works in the same manner as rain and snow does when it waters the earth and makes it bring forth and bud. It prospers in every area of life that we may have a need in the same way bread prospers in feeding the hungry.
The Action that Moves God’s Word
In Proverbs 4 “words” in the original language is dabar which means to speak the words. The word “dabar” was also used in the scripture at the tower of Babel where they were all speaking the same language (dabar). So Proverbs 4:20 is saying; When Speaking these Words they Are Life and health to all their body. When we speak what God has already said then we activate His word and it begins to prosper just like rain does when watering the earth. But just like when rain falls we don’t see the immediate results; God’s word prospers in alike manner. Beloved, the more you speak what God has to say the more you water your life making it spring forth in a bountiful harvest.
