Jesus Fully Understands Temptations
Hebrews 4:15
Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because he was tempted in every way that we are. But he did not sin!
Jesus is God, but He is in the Father’s presence as a man, representing us. No person has been tempted in every temptation, but Jesus was. God allowed Him to go through these temptations and overcome them so that He could understand and identify with the struggles of mankind everywhere on the earth. The Law demanded perfect obedience and Jesus met all the requirements for us without sin.
When Jesus was tempted by the devil, every time He said to the devil “it is written”. Jesus based overcoming His temptations on what God said He would do to help Him. When the devil showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and offered to give them to Jesus if He would bow down and worship him, Jesus said “Go, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’” Jesus knew all His help would come from His Father God!
Jesus Provides for Us a Way of Escape
God said He wants to help you overcome! I am so glad that at the Fathers right hand we have someone who knows all possible temptations, weaknesses, tears of disappointment and every temptation known to man. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through any temptation. (1 Corinthians 10:12-14) You may think that no one understands your struggles. While that may be true of man it is not true of Jesus, He totally understands.
Jesus Stands at Your Hearts Door
God is not holding you guilty in any way for your sins. Jesus took the full punishment for your sins. But since Jesus came into your heart your own guilty conscience will prod you when you are committing acts of sin or undergoing temptations. God has made a way for you to escape thru Jesus. Don’t let the empty enticements of the devil lure you into thinking that is the fulfillment you need. The only thing that can completely satisfy you is the love of God through Jesus.
Beloved, when you are facing a problem or temptation, and the struggle seems more than you can bare, know that Jesus is standing with you. If you will open your hearts door, Jesus will come right into your heart and make the way for you to overcome your situation. He waits lovingly at your heart’s door, not forcing Himself upon you, not pushing the door open, but waiting for you to simply open your heart, and invite Him to come in and guide you to the way to escape.
