Sinners were made Saved
Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
We don’t become sinners just because we do wrong things any more than we become righteous because we do right. When the first man Adam brought sin on the world, every person born under Adam inherits the sin problem of the world and are sinners. Sin is described in the Bible as transgression and rebellion against God. In Genesis 3 there is a description of Adam and Eves rebellion and because of this rebellion, sin has been an “inheritance” for all of their descendants. Romans 5:12 says; “Therefore, as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin; and so death passed unto all men, for that all sinned.”
God, in His infinite wisdom, wanted mankind saved from this problem they caused. He knew what to do from the time Adam and Eve fell, He said He would send a savior through their seed to repair the sin problem. (Genesis 3:15)
Saved were made Righteous
All through the Bible we see God making a plan so that mankind could be saved. In this plan were covenants with certain people, which in turn, helped bring about the “Big Picture” plan for all the world. Since mankind made the ultimate mess of things, it had to be through mankind to get it all straightened out. There were strict laws that had to be enforced, to help mankind bring about Gods ultimate saving plan. God saw from the beginning the weakness of man, and knew He would have to use his own strength to pull this plan off, so He planned on sending His son to change the outcome of the sins of Adam. His son had to be born a man, to fix the man-caused sin problems. This entire plan was by the Grace of God, it was the love of God that caused Him to send His son for the world to be saved, there was nothing deserved on the part of mankind. There was also nothing in the Law of God which caused any of this to be brought about, it was by Gods grace alone. (Galatians 2:21)
Since God knew that man was weak, and could not make right the wrong Adam had caused. He sent righteous Jesus as a second man Adam, correcting the problem by suffering wrongly for sins. This is the opposite of what the first Adam did, who suffered rightly for his sins. In the unmerited suffering of righteous Jesus, God allows an exchange to happen. Mankind is given a choice to exchange their suffering, brought on by Adam, for the righteousness of Jesus, who in turn takes our suffering. In the same manner that the wrong committed caused the problem, another wrong committed unjustly against Jesus corrects the problem. God so loved the world, He chose the method specifically to make right the sin problem curses on the world. (John 3:16)
Saved and Made Righteous Without Doing Anything Right
When mankind is shown that the righteousness of Jesus is offered as a free gift, all that is required to receive this gift is believe that the sacrifices of Jesus were made for mankind. Jesus exchanges His suffering for our well-being, He exchanges His undeserved punishment for our deserved punishment thus satisfying the debt. God has piled all our sins, everything we’ve done wrong, on Him. (Isaiah 53:4-5, 1 Peter 2:24) In all of this we are made righteous, not because we act right or keep ourselves pure, but because we have exchanged the sin we inherited for a new inheritance, we have become heirs of the righteousness of God in Christ. The only thing that can frustrate this undeserved favor, is for us to think we have done something or begin to do something to deserve it. When you have earned it then God cant give it to you by His grace. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
When you receive the gift of righteousness through Jesus, you receive all the benefits attached to this free gift. With this gift you are complete in Him the minute you receive Him as savior. He exchanges all the problems mankind has, that were caused by the curse, for all His deserved benefits He has, freely giving us His gift of righteousness for us to be saved.
Beloved, anything you need can be exchanged for the gift of righteousness God provided for us through Jesus. He has already suffered so that you wont have to suffer, by His righteousness you are saved and made whole, in every area of need in your life. You make the exchange by speaking forth your faith, by your words you are justified and by your words you are saved. (Romans 10:8-9)
