What is needed for Peace?
Matthew 6:31–33
31“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
To have peace in our lives we must find what is needed for our emotions to flow with the peace and joy the Holy Spirit can give us. The best way to have this peace is to first realize we are the righteousness of God in Christ. By this realization our heart and mind is seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness and the peace this brings will keep us happy in the Lord. Knowing God’s Righteousness is what can bring peace and joy flowing into our lives.
To seek this peace we must learn that God is for us and not against us. (Romans 8:28-31) To know this we must fill our heart with God’s Word, by reading or listening to the Bible and by reading or listening to good teachings about the things that God has done for us. Some are readers, some like to listen. But if listening is distracted by seeing other things around us, then we should remove the distractions to completely be in tune with what God has for us. When we fill our spirit with the truths of what Jesus has acquired for us and qualified us for, we find the source to establish peace inside our spirit. By knowing the gift of righteousness God has given to us through Jesus, God will supply all the things we need in life.
What can distract you from Peace?
The distractions that come into our life causing worry are one of the most successful ways of keeping our souls from being happy in the Lord. These distractions are little fires that want us to give them first place, instead of seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. This is what distracts us from the true source of our peace. It is also what distracts us from the true solution to the distraction that is causing us to worry. By becoming so busy in putting out these little fires in our life, we miss the peace and joy that trusting God in faith will bring. Through seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness we find that He will add all the things He has promised in His word to us that will put these fires out.
Beloved, if you want to have peace and joy in the Holy Spirit flowing inside you, then seek every day to be conscious of your righteousness in Christ, not your own righteousness, but His righteousness given to you as a gift. As you learn to concentrate on the true source of your help that comes from the Lord, you will find the little fires in your life getting extinguished by the water of God’s word.
