Dominion Over Everything on Earth
Genesis 1:26
26Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
In the beginning man was given dominion over the earth and everything on the earth. The authority to subdue the earth, over all the creatures of the earth, to use the earth, and to make kingdoms upon the earth, was given to Adam over all the earth, not complete ownership of the earth, just the authority. We know the smooth workings of man’s dominion were temporarily disturbed when Adam and Eve submitted to satan’s authority. By this act of submission satan’s Authority brought in diseases, poverty, strife, bitterness, pain, loss and death. He messed up everything on earth for man. We don’t really know what the earth would be like today if man had not given away his authority. We still see the effects of the fallen state all around us. There is a difference now though; Jesus has regained the authority that was given to Adam and Eve. We now have access to that same authority through the new covenant in the name of Jesus. (Genesis 1:25-27)
New Authority Dominion
Just imagine what the earth would have been like had man not given his authority away. Man’s authority and dominion would encompass everything. When he spoke, what he said would happen, backed by God and administered by God’s angels. In this supposed authority world that could have been, there would have been no death, no sickness, no corruption, no thorns and thistles, no working by the sweat of his brow. In this “man authority controlled” world of what could have been, every man would be able to live as a king. Knowledge would have been increased in an explosive way, and there is no telling what the earth would have been like today. Is it possible that this same authority is here again today, and the possibilities are again endless? Could it be that what holds man back now is lack of faith? Could the fallen state of the world have more influence in what mankind believes, instead of faith in what God’s word says?
God has now given final authority to Jesus in heaven and in earth. (Matthew 28:18-20) With this new authority, Christians can restore by faith the original “authority dominion” that God intended for us to have through Jesus. According to Jesus all things are possible to him who believes and speaks. (Mark 9:22-24, Mark 11:22-24) We should take the authority that Jesus has given us in His name and begin to re-shape the things we see around us, backed by God and administered by God’s angels. Since God’s original greater purpose was for man to have dominion over the earth, it would include the lesser blessings such as health and prosperity. We should not let the fallen state of what we see around us dictate the authority to us. We should dictate to the fallen state the change that is required, as we speak forth Gods word in Jesus name. We are now in the “authority dominion” state as Kings and Priest. (Exodus 19:5-7, Revelation 5:9-11, Peter 2:8-10 2:9 )
Take Dominion over what God’s Word has Given You
Since we are joint heirs with Jesus, and God has supplied us with blessings accessible through faith in His word, we have Jesus as our supply. He paid our sin debt and supplies all of our needs. We can again change the world we live in for the greater good that God intended for mankind back in the beginning. It all starts with us and what we speak out of our mouth in faith, using what God says is ours in His word.
Beloved, regain dominion over all God originally intended for you to have. Tell sickness and poverty that it has to go, speak to obstructions to leave in Jesus name. Tell any enemy of grace to make room for faith and run the race to win in Jesus name. Remember that no weapon formed against you can prosper and every tongue that rises against you in judgment God shall condemn. (Isaiah 54:16-17) Take authority and dominion over the kingdom, according to God’s word, the way it was originally intended and now has been restored through Jesus. (Matthew 25:33-35)
