Luke 13:16 NIV
Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?
When we hear someone has cancer we may think: “what could have caused this disease”, or “I may know a cure”, or “will they need surgery.” I was recently asked does formaldehyde cause cancer and my reply was: “no, the devil causes cancer but one avenue he may use to make it happen could be formaldehyde.” You may have heard the scripture reference above about devil causing the sickness for the woman Jesus healed, but why did Jesus make that reference?
The Apostle Peter referring to Jesus in 1 Peter 2:24 said: “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” The actual meaning behind this scripture is we have been redeemed from the curse that Satan caused Adam to cause to come upon the earth. Along with this curse came sickness, disease, thorns, pain, and many other non-desirable outcomes like cancer. Jesus has reversed the curse and said we are to claim our redemption. We are told that the redeemed of the Lord should say so. (Psalm 107:2) Adam did not bring the cancer to the earth any more than formaldehyde caused the cancer in people; in both cases satan caused the problem through the curse we are redeemed from. When we learn the truth of where sickness and disease come from and the truth about our redemption, we can take a stand against the curse that Jesus reversed and see the salvation of God take these curses of sickness away from us.
When we wake up in the morning we should thank the Lord for the day He has created for us and move forward with every waking moment expecting great blessings to be in store for us for the entire day until we go back to sleep. Then as we sleep we should dream of all the wonders the Lord is creating for us for the coming day when we wake up and start over with new blessings. (Psalm 127:1-2) It does take commitment to enter into the rest the Lord has prepared for us. (Hebrews 4:10) We have to turn loose of the temptations of worry and stress and cast our cares over to Jesus, who will not allow the righteous to be shaken. (Psalm 55:22) It is like the involvement of the chicken and the pig with a Bacon and egg breakfast. The chicken laid the egg and made a contribution but the pig gave total commitment. Beloved, wake up to the blessings the Lord has obtained for you through redemption with total commitment to speaking forth your redemption; let the redeemed of the Lord say so.
