Abraham Had Two Boys | One Blessing | One Bondage
Galatians 3:14
14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Before Abraham had Isaac he had Ismael by Sarah’s servant Hagar. God told Abraham, through his wife Sarah, to cast out Hagar and her son in Genesis 21:10 and referenced in Galatians 4:30 which says: “Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman”. Both of these children had the same father, but different mothers, Isaac was born of Sarah, the wife, and is the son of promise. (Romans 9:9) He represents grace and the inherited blessing of Abraham. Ismael was born of Hagar, the servant, and is the son of bondage. He represents the Law and bondage and will not inherit the blessing of Abraham.
Two Mountains | One Blessing of Abraham
There were two sons and two covenants mentioned in Galatians 4:21-25 representing Sarah and Hagar. They are also represented by two monutains; Mount Zion which represents grace and promise (Hebrews 12:22) and Mount Sinai which represents Law and bondage. The law was given for the people to obey and as they obeyed the law they were considered righteous by their merits and they could receive blessings from God. The Grace of God was given to the children of the promise. This promise was made to Abraham’s seed, and received by their faith in the righteous merits of Jesus and not self-righteousness. Hagar is a picture of the Old Covenant which represents self-righteousness gained by right doing. Sarah is a picture of New Covenant and produces grace gained by Jesus having done right. Both covenants have the same father, but Ismael’s mother is law and Isaac’s mother is grace, but both have Abraham as father. In the same manner, there are Christian Brothers whose mother is law and Christian brothers who mother is grace; who both have God as Father. These are two allegories representing God our Father and our inherited Promise of Grace and blessing of Abraham, and the bondage of Law with no earthly inherited blessing of Abraham.
Cast Out the Bond Woman | Receive Blessing of Abraham
The son of the bond woman will not inherit the blessings of Abraham. (Galatians 3:14) There are Christians today who unknowingly practice self-righteousness and are missing the blessing of Abraham, not realizing by trying to keep the Law, if they miss one point they are guilty of all. (James 2:10) We are told to cast out the bondwoman who represents the law, for we are no longer under the law but under grace. To receive the blessing of Abraham we need to depend on God’s Grace and the free gift of righteousness thru Jesus and not self-righteousness. Be careful what you are hearing, if you are hearing from mount Sinai it will bring you into bondage but if you are hearing from Mt Zion it will set you free. During time of darkness and financial meltdown the children of Grace will inherit the blessing of Abraham and prosper like Abraham did. The Bible says Jesus redeemed us from the Law, that He might give us the adoption of sons so that we would inherit the blessing. (Galatians 4:5, Ephesians 1:5)
Beloved it is time to reign in life thru the free gift of righteousness and cast out all our self-righteousness; God’s grace is the only thing that can cause you to reign in life from Mount Zion. Embrace God’s grace… say: Father, I receive your abundance of Grace, I receive the free gift of righteousness thru Jesus and I receive the blessing of Abraham, Amen (let it be so).
Keep on hearing about Jesus and about grace, not about the Law and bondage, and claim the blessing of Abraham by faith.
