Ephesians 6:10 Be Strong in the Lord

The Lord Strengthens You

Ephesians 6:10
10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

We have a promise that we can be strong in God’s power, who never grows weary, He never slumbers or sleeps. (Isaiah 40:28-30, Psalm 121:4) When we need extra strength we can rely on the strength of the Lord to give us His strength in a time of need.

For example; many years back I was in a very tight space under a house trying to cut a piece of Cast Iron pipe with snap cutters. I had tried several ways to pull the two handles together, but because of the small area I was in, there was no way to get leverage to pull the handles and make the cut, my muscles were not strong enough to do it. After struggling, pulling the handles for a long time, I was Lordcompletely exhausted, and I prayed and asked the Lord to give me His strength to make the cut. I am mentioning this because I will never forget how I then grabbed the handles, and easily pulled them together with His strength empowering me. I was amazed, and felt like I had caught a glimpse of how Samson did mighty things through God empowering him.

Grow With The Strength of the Lord

In the book of Judges we read about the strength of Samson and how he easily defeated the Philistines with God strengthening him. The Lord showed us through Samson, that with God’s strength, miraculous things can happen. Even though Samson was very disobedient to his parents and to God, Samson was used by God to defeat the enemy’s of Israel.

It wasn’t Samson’s hair that made him strong, it was the presence of the Lord with him that gave him his strength. All of Samson’s great strength departed from him only after the Lord left him. (Judges 16:20)

The Philistines had captured Samson, blinded him in both eyes, and taken him prisoner. Samson asked God to give him the strength one last time to kill the Philistines in the coliseum, and God granted his request. The Lord again gave Samson the strength to push the pillars, and bring down the coliseum on everyone, ending his life and many others. Even though Samson was disobedient, he knew his strength came from the Lord and He had faith to request one last time for God to strengthen him, and the Lord granted his request.

Strong in the Power of the Lord

Like Samson, by believing that you can be strong, in the power of Gods might, you are taking the first step to receiving His strength. The next step is to ask God for His help, and by asking we are showing God it is His strength we are depending on and not our own. (Matthew 7:7)

There are times we continue struggling in areas of life that discourage us, and the solution is right there with us all the time. No longer do we need to let anything be a hindrance to the freedom we can have through the Lord. If we have faith in the Lord to give us His strength, believing the merits of Jesus qualify us for God’s help, then He will not leave us weak and helpless. We will see the mighty power of Him working through us and in our lives.

Beloved, as you have faith in God, who is always there to help you, you can be strong in the Lord and the power of His might.
