Are You Not of More Value to God
Matthew 6:28–29
“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? (Matthew 6:28-29, 32-33 MSG)
It Gives God Great Happiness To Give To You
Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; and let them say continually, “Let the LORD be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.” Psalm 35:27
The righteous cause of God is to give the free gift of righteousness to His people. Since we are the righteousness of God in Christ, not only do we have eternal life but everywhere we go, God causes our path to be established in the way of life. The righteousness that Jesus has acquired, and God has given to us as a gift, causes us to have life more abundantly.
God’s More Abundant Life For You
Since God’s desire is a “more abundant life” for His people, we should not limit what God wants to do for us by saying He only wants to meet our needs. All true Christians have received life from Christ. The greater portion of them, however, know nothing about the more abundant life which God is willing to bestow. Paul speaks constantly of this. He says about himself that the grace of God was ‘exceeding abundant’ (1 Timothy 1.14). ‘I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me’ (Philippians 4.13). ‘Thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ’ (2. Corinthians 2.14). ‘We are more than conquerors through him that loved us’ (Romans 8.37).
Beloved, believe that if God clothes the lilies and grass of the field, which are here today and gone tomorrow, how much more will He clothe you, His eternal and precious child, with beauty and riches! All He asks is that you trust Him and rest in His promises for you.
