When It Didn’t Rain

Trusting God for no Rain

At one time I had a distributorship installing Aerobic Treatment systems that covered Dallas and Tarrant counties in Texas. This testimony is about an installation project in 1995 I had scheduled in Dallas county, about an hour from my shop.

To install an Aerobic Treatment system, we would have to take two trailers to the job site. One had the Aerobic systems and all the installation parts we needed, and the other had our backhoe. To install a system we would have to do the project on a day when it was not raining. This is a testimony about a time when I was trusting God to not let it rain, so we could complete this project.

The Rain Came

I had an installation scheduled for the following day, and my co-worker was going to drive one truck pulling the supply trailer and I was to drive the other pulling the trailer with the backhoe. While we were loading the trailers, my co-worker told me that it was going to rain the next day and we needed to reschedule. I told him I needed to do this installation and I was going to believe that God would not let it rain on that job site, so we could do the work. I had to call and schedule a Septic Tank Pumping company to arrive on the project site the same time we arrived, to empty the septic tanks for our customer. When I called them they said; “Did you know it is going to rain tomorrow?” I told them it would be okay and I would like for them to put me on their schedule.

When my co-worker and I arrived at my place of business the next morning to go to the Aerobic installation project, the sky was very dark and I could see it could easily start raining. I decided to start driving to the project and believe by faith that God would not let it rain there, even after the protest of my co-worker saying this was crazy and it was going to rain. While on route the Septic Tank Pumping company called me and said; “It is raining, do you still want me to meet you on that project?” I told him to meet me there, it would be okay. Then as I was driving the rain started falling on my windshield. I felt discouragement building inside me, but I refused to say anything about what I was feeling and seeing. Instead I began to sing a song I knew: “I Shall Not Be Moved” as the rain kept falling and we kept driving.

Arrived No Rain on This Street

It rained on us all the way to the street where the project was located. When I turned onto the street the project was on, it was not raining on that street. I could see the sky was dark and filled with rain in every direction, but there was no rain on this street. As I pulled up in front of the house where we were to work, the Septic Pumping truck also pulled up at the same time. He had come from the other direction from the other end of the street. We all stepped out of our vehicles and Septic pumping man said to me; “It is raining at the other end of this street, are you sure you want to do this?” Then my co-worker said sarcastically; “David thinks God is not going to let it rain on this job!” I said that is right, get the rainshovel, uncover the tanks and lets get them pumped out. I began to unload the equipment, feeling new found strength from God to continue to trust Him for no rain, especially since I could see it was not raining on my project. We completed that project with rain falling all around us, and it did not rain on that job that day. read more…

God answered my faith in His word; “23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” (Mark 11:23-24)
