Spiritual Blessings In Heavenly Places

Qualified for Blessings

Psalm 1:3
3He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.

When you read verses in the Old Testament that have blessings included in them they usually come with a clause that says you have to do something to receive these blessings. The law was given for the people to obey and as they obeyed the law they were considered righteous by their merits and they could receive blessings from God. But we read in the New Testament, because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross, you are already right with God when you are Born Again. You don’t need to do anything to make yourself more right with God, Jesus did that for you. In fact, by faith in Jesus, you have received the righteousness of God Himself! (2 Corinthians 5:21) And no matter how many mistakes you make, you will never lose that righteousness because in the first place, God gave it to you apart from your works. (Romans 4:5-6) In other words, God did not impute righteousness to you because you were good, but because you believed in Jesus. The Grace of God was given to the children of the promise. This promise was made to Abraham’s seed, and received by their faith in the righteous merits of Jesus and not self-righteousness.

Receive Blessings On Jesus’ Account

As you read verses like Psalm 1:1-2;Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, (know Jesus did that for you) Nor stands in the path of sinners, (know Jesus did that for you) Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; (know Jesus did that for you) But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. (know Jesus did that for you) Every requirement under the Old Covenant was completed by Jesus and by Him keeping all these commandments, then taking all your punishment for your sins, then giving you His gift of “His Righteousness” you are now qualified as if you obeyed these commandments yourself. All the blessings for keeping these are now yours. Psalm 1:3 says: He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, (you shall always have all that you need and more)  That brings forth its fruit in its season,  (you shall prosper and have plenty to meet your needs and others) Whose leaf also shall not wither; (you shall be well and whole and sickness will not flourish in you) And whatever he does shall prosper. (anything you put your hand to shall prosper)

Blessed with All Blessings and No Curses.

When you read scriptures that say if you do not keep these commandments these curses will come on you, know that with the gift of Righteousness you do not qualify for the curses and you only qualify for the blessings. Galatians 3:13 says: (Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.) In the same way that Jesus qualified Jews for these blessings, He has also qualified you for the blessings and He disqualified you for the curses taking all of them upon himself.

Beloved, Jesus has now blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places. (Ephesians 1:3) These blessings are already there, floating around in heavenly places, waiting on you to act upon God’s Word and receive them. Begin to claim and receive all the blessings that God has provided for you today in Jesus!
