Psalm 23:5 In The Presence Of My Enemies

Who are the Enemies?

Psalm 23:5
5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.

We don’t wrestle against an enemy who we can see or touch, but sometimes it feels like we are. Anything that is adverse to God’s Word is on the opposing side. That makes sin, sickness, poverty, danger, and unbelief our enemies. The ones who are orchestrating these into our lives cant be seen, for they are spiritual powers; principalities, the rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12) The devil has not yet been taken out of this world, and we see all around us the the destruction that he has done. But we can expect better things for us than being the receiver of this destruction, being heirs of God thru Jesus.

Enemies  are Harassed

With these enemies all around, and invisible to the eye, do we have anything to fear? NO, our Heavenly Father has prepared a table of blessings before us right in their presence. Can you imagine the “All Powerful” Creator of all things standing beside you, stopping your enemies dead in their tracks? Just at the right moment God comes to the rescue, stopping the tactics of these spiritual powers and ending their evil plans. While these evil intentions are delusional to us, instead of evil we receive good. God places a table of feasting before us right in the presence of our enemies, harassing them and letting them know we are bought by the blood of Jesus and under His protection. Their evil plans are brought to nothing and all their efforts are stilled. It is time to see God stopping the enemies of sin, sickness, poverty, danger and unbelief. Placing a table before you of righteousness, healing, wealth, protection and faith.

Safe Under His Wings Away From Our Enemies

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”  3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.  4 He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.  7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. (Psalm 91 1-7)

When Jesus made God His refuge, this was done to make God our refuge, we are no longer unworthy. As Jesus is in this world so are we (1 John 4:17). I have good news for Christians who have Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Jesus has made the way for you to dwell in the secret place of the most high and abide under His shadow continually 24/7 by dwelling in this secret place for you. When you put your faith in the finished works of Christ you are “In Christ” and you become the body of Christ. You are blessed with all spiritual blessings, and seated with Him in heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3). You are the seed of Abraham (Galatians 3:29). You inherit all the blessings and benefits that Jesus Himself attained, thus delivering you from all your enemies.

Beloved, in Jesus you are in the secret place of the most High, and you can boldly claim that He is your fortress and your God, you can always trust in Him; as He prepares a table before you in the presence of your enemies.
