Good News, Sins Are Gone

Hebrews 10:17
17… “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

The prophecy written in Jeremiah 31:34 is important enough to be quoted twice in the Letter to the Hebrews. Clearly the “Good News” is this: “I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more” (Heb. 8:12 and 10:17).

God can see all of our sins, (past, present and future), and He says:, “Your sins I remember no more!” In the original Greek the words “no more” are a strong double negative. It can be understood in a stronger sense like this: “Your sins I will by no means ever remember!” Will God change His mind on this? The proper Name of God “He who is” and “I am” implys His unchangeableness. Malachi 3:6 says: “I the Lord do not change”. God is the same yesterday, today and forever, so we can count on it that God will not change His mind on this, and He will remember no more our sins forever. (Hebrews 13:8)

Jesus Took Our Sins

When Jesus took the punishment on the cross for our sins, is when God stopped remembering our sins. To be “Born Again” is to believe that the sacrifice on the cross for the punishment for sins was finished and paid fully by Jesus. Once you believe this, you honor what God has done be accepting the great sacrifice He made for your sins, and His intentions are to bless you for receiving Jesus as your savior by His grace. This was a VERY expensive payment God made, making you “sin debt free”. Every sin which we have committed or will commit has been punished to the full in the body of Jesus Christ at the cross. That is why today, God remembers our sins no more. We should, therefore, not be sin-conscious.

What Benefit’s Do We Have With No Sins?

We know that God is Love, and we know that He loves us very much to send His Son to set us free from sins, so we should also know He wants to bless us. (1John 4:7-8)

Under the Old Covenant, every priest goes to work at the altar each day, offers the same old sacrifices year in, year out, and never makes a dent in the sin problem. They were doing these sacrifices, under the procedure of laws of God, so that the people could receive the blessings of God and not be cursed. As a priest, Christ made a single sacrifice for sins, under the procedure of grace from God, and that was it! It was finished. Now we can receive the blessings of God on a continual basis without any curses. The curses are still in the world and we see the results of the curse all around us with sickness, poverty, danger and death. All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” (Galatians 3:10)

Since we are not under the Law, but under grace, there is no sin that will ever disqualify you from God’s blessings, and all who rely on God’s grace by faith know that: “Blessed is everyone who continues in His Grace, completely sin free, receiving the gift of righteousness, and living in the opportunity of blessings from God.”

Beloved, hear God say to you, “I will be merciful. Your sins and lawless deeds I will remember no more. I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.” (Hebrews 8:12, 10:17, 3 John 2)
