Galatians 3:5 By the Hearing of Faith

Saved Through Faith

Galatians 3:5
5Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?…

When a person receives salvation through faith, the main qualification is to believe that Jesus is the Son of God. The most widely known scripture is John 3:16 saying God gave His Son, by faith in Him, the world could be saved. We receive this blessing of salvation, which is the greatest blessing of all, by having faith that Jesus freely gave Himself for us, nothing deserving on the part of anyone in the world.  Could it be that miracles are received the same way?

Faith Is Not Works

When Jesus took the punishment on the cross for our sins, is when God stopped remembering our sins. To be “Born Again” is to believe that the sacrifice on the cross for the punishment for sins was finished and paid fully by Jesus. Once you believe this, you honor faithwhat God has done by accepting the great sacrifice Jesus made exchanging His righteousness for your sins. When we want to receive a miracle, the same qualifications apply by simply believing the same way as when receiving Jesus as Lord and savior.

Isaiah the profit foretold that Jesus would come into the world to remove our sins from us and heal our sicknesses. (Isaiah 54:3-5, Matthew 8:17) When we see Jesus has come into the world to remove our sins that seems easy, since no outward manifestation is required. The latter is much easier to shy away from since it requires God to do something for us as proof of Gods hand in the matter. Sometimes we try to mix faith and works and help God out with His promises, the disadvantage is sometimes this becomes our works and not a free gift. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Under the old covenant we see failed attempts of God’s people trying to keep the law by works to bring their blessings and salvation. It took God’s grace to bring salvation without works, should we think our works trying to help God perform a miracle would bring anything more than the people who already tried this?

Faith Without Works

All through the Bible we see God making a plan so that mankind could be saved. When mankind is shown that the righteousness of Jesus is offered as a free gift, all that is required to receive this gift is believe that the sacrifices of Jesus were made for mankind. Jesus exchanges His suffering for our well-being, He exchanges His undeserved punishment for our deserved punishment thus satisfying the debt. God has piled all our sins, everything we’ve done wrong, on Him. (Isaiah 53:4-5, 1 Peter 2:24)

There was an elderly lady who lived in some apartments close to my grandmother. She was sick and had no car. My mother was visiting with her and this lady said: “If only someone could take me to church where the elders could anoint me with oil I believe I would be healed.” My mother took her and she received her healing. Beloved, when you need a miracle know that God has sent Jesus to exchange His sufferings for your well being. For by grace are you saved, healed and delivered, and not by your works. Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish!
